Kohl Center and the Easter Bunny

 

         

Sam is doing well.  He is a healthy happy kid.  He has "yah", "no", "down", "cheers", and a few other words figured out.  He is keenly aware of everything we say.  If Kate and I are talking and mention food or a cat or going outside he knows exactly what we are talking about.  Beyond the few spoken words he knows quite a few signs.  Katie has been going through the baby sign language books.  The signs for "hungry", "milk", "more", "banana", and "all done" are a few favorites.  He picks it up pretty fast.  I think he knows more of them than I do.  

A couple months ago Kate taught Sam the sign for "more".  I think he learned it on Tuesday with her at home.  On Thursday I was home and had not gone through any of Sam's new signs with Kate.  He did the sign  for "more" (both hands facing each other, fingers outstretched, bouncing fingertips off each other).  I thought he was clapping and was done with lunch.  I said "good job, you finished everything!"  He'd smile and do the sign for more (in my defense it does look a lot like a silent clap).  He seemed progressively more frustrated as I tried to take his tray away.  Even without the sign I did figure out that he wanted more to eat.    

A friend from High School now coaches Racine Horlick's basketball team.  They ended up in the State final.  Sam and I went to the State Quarterfinal at the Kohl Center.  We stayed for almost half the game, wandered the concourse, split a pretzel, and Racine won.  Sam is a basketball fanatic. We rarely let him see TV (UW vs. Florida State was an exception).  He yells "GO!" whenever anyone shoots.  He stomps his feet and pumps his fist.  His first visit to the Kohl Center was a big hit. 

Today we went to see the Easter Bunny.  Thankfully we hadn't packed away Sam's cold weather gear as it snowed today.  He was not too fond of the 6 foot man-rabbit, but liked running around in the shut down spray park.
